The Guild @ Lyle Kirk
Hello and welcome to the Guild page of Lyle Kirk web site.The Guild meets on alternate Thursday afternoons at 2pm in the small hall of the Union Street building. We have planned a varied and interesting series of meetings which we hope will appeal to most tastes and interests in the congregation.We hope that if you see in our syllabus any topic or activity in which you are interested you will feel able to come along and join us. A friendly welcome awaits you. Remember both men and women are welcome to join the Guild.The first meeting of the new session is on Thursday 9th October 2015.

Syllabus 2017/18

October 

Thursday 19th  The guild is going to the Beacon theatre to see the matinee performance of "Memories are made of This"    

 

November   

Thursday 2nd This afternoon guild members get a chance to view the DVD of the annual "Gathering"at Dundee. The principal speakers were the Rt Rev Dr Derek Browning Moderator of the General Assembly and Dr Pam Cairns who was Medical Director of the Vine Trust and worked on the Amazon Hope in the Peruvian jungle. She is also a founding Trustee of the Free to Live Trust which seeks to improve the lives of street children and victims of modern slavery in India.   2 - 4pm Union St.


Thursday 9th
   A speaker from "Feed the Minds" charity visits the guild to talk about the progress of their project in Kenya which engages with the local communities in workshops for parents, school visits and social events to bring and end to the practice of Female Genital Mutilation.  2-4 pm Union St   


Saturday 18th
 The Guild Coffee Morning with a Baking stall and Book stall. Tickets £2 from guild members or pay at the door.                                                               10am - 12 noon Union Street

 

Thursday 23rd The Annual Business Meeting of the guild followed by tea and cakes. 2 - 4pm Union St                    

 

December

Thursday 7th  The Presbyterial Council of the guild is holding its Christmas Celebration in Lyle Kirk this afternoon.                                                                                                            2 - 4pm Union Street

January              

Thursday18th Alan Aitken visits the guild to share available his recollections of attending a royal investiture.                                                                                            2 - 4pm Union Street

 

Thursday 25th    Debbie Maloney from the Inverclyde Centre for Independent Living is visiting the guild to tell  them about the support available to help people to remain independent.  2 - 4pm Union St

 

February  

Thursday 8th  This afternoon the guild will be finding about the work carried out by C S I Scotland from Euart Orr.                                                                                          2 -4pm Union Street

Today, Sunday 13th November 2016,

we celebrated with members of Lyle Kirk Guild with their long service awards. The following were presented with certificates on their years of service, some presented today (photo above) and others at the recent Dedication service:
