Lyle Kirk Profile - Carole Chamberlain

I have lived in Greenock/Gourock for all but 4 years of my life, having been born in Dundee!

I have had a lifelong connection to Lyle Kirk, formerly Finnart St Paul’s, formerly¬† St Paul’s Church having walked from my first home in Newark Street to attend Sunday school and then Bible Class.

I was married there, my 3 sons were all baptized there and my grandchildren, Olivia & Callum whom you all know were also baptized there & both attend Sunday School.

In February 2017, I became a Church Elder and am presently serving on the Congregational Board. For the last 2 years, I have been involved with Lyle Gateway having recently taken on the role of secretary.

My nursing career spanned more than 40 years through Glasgow, Dundee & Winchester but mainly working night duty in the Operating Department at Inverclyde Royal hospital. When I retired, I began volunteering as a driver with Ardgowan Hospice, taking patients to local & out of town hospital appointments. I get great satisfaction helping people & just being a friendly face for others who may be at a low point in their lives.

‘Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.’
